“If you want superior sound from CDs (whether they’re standard commercial CDs or ones you’ve burned at home onto CD-R or CD-RW) there is no question that a dedicated CD player is your best option. But there are other reasons for buying a dedicated CD player that aren’t concerned with sound quality. Dedicated CD players generally offer features you just won’t find on any other type of silver disc player”.
The Marantz CD 5003 is a very reasonably priced dedicated CD player that will have wide appeal, especially to fans of Marantz.
Our reviewer Robin Senecca goes on to say the following:
“I could tell at the outset that describing the sound of the Marantz CD5003 was going to be a tough call, because even judging from the very first few CDs it was obvious that the player was dealing with the various genres very even-handedly, not favouring rock over classical, or jazz over easy listening. Indeed all the sessions proved to be very easy on the ear, with the CD5003 delivering a fl uid, uniformly contiguous sound quality right across the frequency range, from the deep bass to the extreme treble”.
